Short on time and long on the urge to become a certified diver? The PADI Scuba Diver certification might just be for you. This course
requires less time than the PADI Open Water Diver course. Particularly if you expect to go scuba diving primarily in the company of a dive
guide or if you have limited time to devote to scuba certification, consider becoming a PADI Scuba Diver here in Telford, Shropshire.
What do I learn?
The PADI Scuba Diver course consists of three main phases:
– Knowledge development to understand basic principles of scuba diving
– Confined water dives to learn basic scuba skills
– Open water dives to review your skills and explore!
The fun part about this course is . . . well, just about all of it because learning to dive is incredible. You breathe underwater for the first time
(something you’ll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver.
During the course, you’ll make at least three pool dives and two dives at local dive sites under the supervision of your Immerse School of Diving PADI Instructor.
What does it involve?
You do not need any prior experience before you start a PADI Scuba Diver course. However you must be at least 10 years old to become a PADI Junior Scuba Diver, and at least 15 years old to become a PADI Scuba Diver. You must demonstrate basic water skill comfort by swimming for 200 metres (there is no time limit or requirement to use a particular stroke), and floating and treading water for 10 minutes; and be in good health.
Once you have booked in with Immerse School of Diving you will need to complete a few forms and bring these to your first pool session which will be held in Telford, Shropshire – a Safe Diving Practices Statement of Understanding; a Liability Release and Assumption of Risk Agreement; and a Medical Statement. Please ensure you read these in full before your session. If you answer “yes” to any question on the Medical Statement you will need medical clearance before you can dive – see our FAQs for further information.
Before you attend your first session we will provide you with a crewpak which contains all the materials you will need for your course. We will also provide you with access to a copy of the DVD. You will need to read Chapter one of your manual and watch chapter one of the video before your first in water session.
On arrival for your first in water session we will introduce you to any other participants who are joining your session. You will need your normal swimming equipment, a towel, and a t-shirt is advised.
What is next?
Once you complete your PADI Scuba Diver Course, you are certified to dive under the supervision of a PADI professional. You can join in any Club Immerse activities at home or abroad to gain experience and make diving friends.
If you would like to continue to develop your diving skills further, then you’ll want to consider an upgrade to a PADI Open Water Diver certification for just the price difference between our PADI Scuba Diver and PADI Open Water Diver courses.
