Have you ever been scuba diving and asked yourself, “What was that?”
The PADI Project AWARE Fish Identification Specialty course provides you with the fish identification basics so that next time, you know the answer.
You’ll find that you enjoy your dives even more when you recognise the creatures which you see. Once you learn the main fish families and characteristics it will help you decipher the species you see all over the world.
If you are thinking of becoming a PADI professional and guiding dives, you’ll also make your dives more interesting for your divers if you can show them different fish and be able to explain a little about them.
During two dives you gain hands-on experience in looking for and identifying the fascinating fish you see underwater. You’ll learn :
- How to identify characteristics of local fish families and species
- Fish survey techniques and strategies
- How to practice fish identification dive planning, organisation and procedures
Your certification fee also helps to support Project AWARE and the vital work they do to conserve our ocean environment, so it’s a great way to support Project AWARE whilst learning more about the underwater life they seek to protect.
The course can be completed in a day, is best combined with a Club Immerse trip to one of our coastal dive sites, and involves two fish identification dives. This is a full PADI Speciality, and counts towards your Master Scuba Diver qualification.
