The Georgia Williams Youth Diving Programme
Georgia Williams suddenly and unexpectedly lost her life at the end of May 2013. Her spirit has touched people all over the World.
Georgia Williams lived life with an adventurous, outgoing attitude. She loved being outdoors and being active. Number three on Georgia's wish list in life was to go scuba diving.
The Georgia Williams Trust formed in Georgia's memory aims to enable young people to participate in life-building adventurous and outdoor activities, and to contribute to the local community.
In conjunction with The Georgia Williams Trust, Immerse School of Diving offer the Georgia Williams Youth Diving Programme aligned to the aims of the Trust. The programme allows young people to participate in scuba diving, to build confidence, and to become more active.
The programme also provides the annual opportunity for one very special young person within the borough of Telford & Wrekin (or surrounding areas, based on exceptional merit) to participate in a full scuba diving scholarship over the course of a year, The Georgia Williams Diving Scholarship.
If you are interested in having Immerse School of Diving run a youth diving experience for you, or if you are a young person interested in experiencing scuba diving, then contact us for further information.
the Georgia Williams diving Scholarship
The Georgia Williams Diving Scholarship is an annual opportunity for one young person in the borough of Telford & Wrekin to pursue an interest in the underwater World, and in turn to enable other young people to have access to scuba diving activities.
The Georgia Williams Diving Scholar learns to become a fully qualified scuba diver and trains to attain PADI (Junior) Master Scuba Diver rating, the highest non-professional scuba diving qualification with the World’s most recognised and respected diving agency, with Immerse School of Diving in Telford.
In addition, the Scholar has the chance to experience a range of scuba diving experiences, and becomes an ambassador for youth scuba diving in Telford & Wrekin and also the The Georgia Williams Trust.
At the end of the Scholarship the Scholar has all the qualifications and experience required to commence training to become a PADI professional diver when they turn eighteen, opening up the opportunity to pursue a career in the scuba diving industry.
The annual Scholarship is jointly funded by The Georgia Williams Trust and Immerse School of Diving, and sponsored by the incredible family team at Otter Watersports Drysuits and by explorer Monty Halls.

The Georgia Williams youth Outreach programme
Immerse School of Diving offer a range of youth diving opportunities as part of The Georgia Williams Youth Outreach Programme.
Through the Youth Outreach Programme we work to make scuba diving more accessible to young people, enabling them to learn about scuba diving and experience the thrill of breathing underwater for the first time.
Education and Youth Groups
We work with schools, colleges, and community youth groups to deliver introductory scuba diving sessions through tailored PADI Bubblemaker and PADI Discover Scuba Diving experiences for groups of young people; to qualify young people as PADI Open Water scuba divers; and to ensure that young people have the opportunity to continue diving. We also deliver Project AWARE seminars to educate young people on critical issues affecting the aquatic environment, and science at work presentations to show how science affects our professional dive Instructors every day at work.
These activities can be held either at our pool and classroom in Telford Shropshire, or on-site at your own swimming pool and teaching facilities.
Youth diving experiences
We also offer half price PADI Bubblemaker and PADI Discover Scuba Diving sessions for any individual young person between the ages of eleven and eighteen living within the borough of Telford & Wrekin who cites Georgia William's wish list as the reason for them wishing to dive at the point of booking.
Children under the age of eight can gain water confidence with the PADI Discover Snorkelling programme. Then between the ages of eight and ten, children can also participate in a child friendly programme of scuba diving activities with the PADI Skin Diver course and the PADI Seal Team programme. So there really is a way for every age group to become involved in the underwater World! Just contact us and we can advise you of what is best for your child.
These sessions are held in our pool in Telford Shropshire, and help young people wanting to follow Georgia's wish list a chance to go scuba diving.
